In order to mitigate the impact of the Nachi / Welchia worm, Netrack
is currently filtering ICMP (ping) packets with a payload size of 64 bytes.
Windows computers use these packets in the tracert command.
So while this measure is in effect, a tracert from a
Windows computer (2000, NT, or XP) will not work through the Netrack
network. This is the only known impact of this filtering. This
filtering is preventing over 150 potential worm probes per second
to Netrack customer computers.
Here is a replacement
tracert.exe
program that uses a different sized packet that will work.
